When you are traveling in a car or on a plane to a far away destination, you will want to take a pillow with you. A regular pillow can do the trick in a pinch, but having something that slips and slides all over the place and bunches up is not really recommended for a restful trip.
What you need is something like the Travelrest Ultimate Travel Pillow. It is an inflatable neck pillow that can be deflated and rolled up after use and tucked away (like in your carry on bag, if you fly) without taking up a lot of space. This makes the pillow super easy to store.
There is a snap to keep the pillow from coming unrolled. The snap, along with the strap, can also be used to wear the pillow kind of like a messenger bag.
The Ultimate Travel Pillow is an ergonomic pillow. Its patented design supports you properly to keep your neck from straining. When you use a regular pillow, it can roll and move all over the place leaving your body feeling tense, but that won’t be as much of an issue with this pillow, because of it’s design.
It helps keep your head, neck and spine aligned. You will find that your head does not fall forward like it would with a pillow from your bed at home.
This makes it easier for you to fall asleep faster and sleep better. You want to be relaxed when going on your trip, and when you get there, you will feel more refreshed and can have more fun.
If you don’t want to have the travel pillow next to your face and neck, you can adjust it. It has a cord that you can loop over the wing of an airplane seat or headrest on a car seat (just make sure you tighten it, so it doesn’t slip around), or you can even wear it. The cord can be used like a guitar strap would be used, to keep the pillow from moving (this seems to be the preferred method).
You can deflate the pillow to desired softness. There is a valve flap that you can lightly tap to let a little air out. This is so much easier than trying to squeeze a valve (think tire tubes used for floating in the water).
Position the pillow next to your head and neck and let the rest snuggle down the side of your body, or drape it across the front of your body diagonally, whichever is most comfortable to you.
Travel Pillow Uses
The Ultimate Travel Pillow can be used any time that a pillow would be handy. This is the best accessory for any type of seat or chair, including, but not limited to, airplanes, cars, buses, trains, wheelchairs and, well, I would say school desks, but you wouldn’t want to get too comfortable and fall asleep while in class, now would you?
You could also take them on camping trips, trips to the beach, but I’m not sure I would recommend this.
If you plan on taking them camping or to the beach with you, they are washable. Beware though, I went to the beach with my family a couple of months ago and I’m still finding sand in the car. Also, as with any product, if you wash something too much, it won’t last as long. It’s best to use it around cleaner areas. This way you will get the most for your money.
If you have facial hair, I have read where it can pinch your beard. Use with caution, my bearded friends.
It is made of rubber and has a velvet cover, so it doesn’t breathe real well, so if you are prone to sweating, you may get a little warm using this. You could try bringing a small cotton pillow with you to put inbetween your and the travel pillow, but that would defeat the purpose, wouldn’t it? You could also try putting a cotton pillow case over it. You could also use the pillow case to keep your beard from getting pinched.
It has a seam that some are finding uncomfortable when not being able to adjust to stay away from it. Again … the pillow case could help with this as well.
Some customers have problems keeping the strap around airplane headrests/wings. If you have this problem, I haven’t seen any complaints with wrapping it around your body. You do this by connecting the strap to the bottom and snap it together. This makes a loop that you can use (like a guitar strap) around your body to keep the pillow more stationary.
This pillow only gives you support on one side, so it you move around a lot, you may want to be sure to wear it, so you can shift the pillow from one side to the other easily, although, you would have to take it off to reposition it.
Some say that the pillow is too hard. If it is too hard, you can let some of the air out. To get the best results, blow the pillow all the way up (it doesn’t take that much to blow it up), then let air out slowly until you find that “sweet spot”. It has been said that the most comfortable softness is when it is aired up to around 85-90%.
